Peachester is in the Sunshine Coast hinterland at about 160m on the D’Aguilar Range. The name is said to have come about due to peach trees growing at a camping grounds near the Stanley River where the loggers discarded pips – originally called Peach Trees, the name was changed in 1888 when the town was surveyed.

The town’s population had grown a lot by the census in 2021 to 1,460 – so an ever growing need for bulk water suppliers to service the area. It will be interesting to see the growth at the next census (2026), as it seems the Peachester area is pushing along a lot faster now … as is the whole of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, and coastal.

Peachester Qld has a great reputation as a “community” – and that is something that has been lost somewhat in many places, as important as it is. Being a blend of rural and semi-urban in a beautiful biodiverse natural environment – and with great local facilities to boot: like the local long-time convenience shop: The Peachester Fuel & General Store, The Peachester Fruit Market, Heyman Produce, and these days the Peachester Café-Bakery – all make it a nice place!

Plus there’s a great little primary school – it opened in 1892!; a playgroup, park, and recently a monthly market, and the old Peachester Community Hall (opened in 1889, as a School of Arts and used throughout the generations) – so I can see why it has that reputation. As well as being a great local area.

Peachester is 8km to Beerwah, under 40 mins to Kings Beach, in Caloundra; just over 1 hour to the Brisbane Airport and under 1 ½ hours to The Gabba – not a bad place to live!
